The process of spot welding involves specific components and consumables including: copper electrodes (non-fusible), triangular wads, welding nails, round wads, pulling devices (extractor, pliers). Spot welding consists in passing electric current through the electrodes that generate the fusion of materials in contact with them. The length and diameter of the spot welding electrodes vary according to the type of apparatus. Triangular welding beams are used for straightening and adjusting sheet metal panels in car body panels. Depending on the situation, the process involves corrugated wire or round spot-welding saddles for a larger contact area. The device by which the body is adjusted consists of a scissors (also known as a claw or corrugated wire pulling comb) and a puller which is operated with two hands to bring the sheet of sheet metal level. Spot welding nails are other consumables that are an efficient and fast mounting solution for thin sheets of sheet metal.
